Teodóra Gyarmati founded the AD Makrame brand in 2020, driven by a pursuit of uniqueness and the harmonious integration of design and art. Her creations are all uniquely designed, meticulously crafted works made with hand knotting. The pieces, made using a knotting technique rooted in old traditions, highlight the value of craftsmanship and the importance of uniqueness in interior design and fashion, contrasting this with the environmentally destructive mass production of today.
The garments she designs are exclusively handmade, using natural and recycled materials. Combining shapes, patterns, and creativity, the production of each piece involves the use of hundreds, sometimes thousands of meters of thread, resulting in one-of-a-kind creations.
In today’s mechanized world, AD Makrame seeks to popularize a movement that not only elevates traditional techniques and handcraftsmanship but also brings together design and functionality.
In 2024, her Day & Night collection was exhibited at the 8th International Textile Art Triennial.
